I've used PSP9 for this tutorial, however you should be able to create this tag in all versions.
I am assuming you have some knowledge of how PSP works.

Supplies needed:
A tube of choice.  I’m using one by Karen Middleton, which is available from CDO
Please do not use unless you have the appropriate license number.
Font of choice.  I've used John Lennon
Scrap Elements of choice.  I've used ones from Foxy's Designz, which is a PTU scrap kit, also available from CDO

Plugins:
Mura’s Meister – Copies
Xero - Abstractor
AAA Frames - Foto Frame

1.  Open a new transparent image 600 x 250 pixels

2.  Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.

3.  Apply Mura Meister Copies, using the Wallpaper (Rotate) default settings.

4.  Crop image to 600x250 pixels.  Adjust – Blur – Radial Blur with the following settings:

Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance More.  Duplicate this layer.

5.  On your duplicate layer, apply Xero - Abstractor with the following settings:

Change the Blend Mode to Soft Light, or one that suits your tag.  Merge Visible.

6.  Add any elements you like to your tag - I've used Elements 9 and 11 out of my kit.
I also changed the blend mode of Element 9 to Overlay.
Add drop shadows, if required.

7.  Paste your tube as a new layer and move it into position.  Add a drop shadow of choice.

8.  Highlight your bottom layer (this should be the layer you merged in step 5).
Apply AAA Frames - Foto Frame with the following settings:

9.  Add a new raster layer, and move it above your other layers.  Flood fill it with black.
Selections - Select All.  Selections - Modify - Contract by 1.  Flood fill with white.  Keep Selected.
Selections - Select All.  Selections - Modify - Contract by 1.  Press Delete on your keyboard.
Selections - Select None.

Tag Tutorials / Be Fabulous
« on: July 21, 2012, 08:29:29 pm »

I've used PSP9 for this tutorial, however you should be able to create this tag in all versions.
I am assuming you have some knowledge of how PSP works, including applying masks.

Supplies needed:
A tube of choice.  I'm using one by Alicia Bel, which is available from The PSP Project, in a special 'Starter Pack'.
Please do not use the same tube without the appropriate license.
Scrap kit of choice.  I'm using a PTU kit, Dancer, by Sam's Scraps,
also available from TPP, included in the 'Starter Pack'.
Font of choice.  I've used Feel Script.
Mask of choice.  I've used WSL_Mask353 by WeeScotsLass

Plugin: Eye Candy Impact - Gradient Glow (optional)

I've written this so you can twist your result to suit your tube and scrapkit choice - Hope you enjoy it.
I have resized pretty much all the elements to suit my tag - please do the same as necessary

1.  Open a new image 600x600 pixels.

2.  Copy and paste frame of choice from your scrapkit.  I've used Frame 2.

3.  Due to the style of frame I chose, I selected a ribbon to 'hang' it from - I've used Ribbon 2.
I then erased the ropes above the ribbon.

4.  Copy and paste your tube above your frame.  Move it into position and resize it if necessary.

5.  Add any elements around your tube or frame.  Add drop shadows as required.
I've used Cloud, Banner, Ballet Slippers, Wavy Keyboard and Ribbon Flower 1 in my example.
I added Flower 8 for my tube to stand on.

6.  I've also used the 'Be Fabulous Word Art' from my kit and placed it in a prominent position.

7.  Select a paper from your kit - I've used Paper 11.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move it below your frame.
Apply mask of choice to this layer and merge group.

8.  Crop your tag and resize if necessary.

9.  Add your name, using a font of choice.  I also added a gradient glow and dropshadow.

10.  Add the appropriate copyright and license number if necessary.  I've also credited the scrapkit maker.
And you're done :)

My apologies to everyone who was trying to follow this tutorial, but wasn't able to get the wordart open.  Seems it saved funny - I wasn't even able to open it!!
However, I've since recreated it and I've updated the file, so you should be able to open it now - Thanks for trying my tutorial!

Please do not use the same tube without the appropriate license.
Font of choice.  I've used PoodlePusherNF.

Eye Candy 5: Impact - Gradient Glow (optional)

1.  Open a new transparent image 600 x 250 pixels

Apply Muras Meister - Copies using the Wallpaper (Rotate) default settings.

3.  Apply Adjust - Blur - Motion Blur with the following settings:

4.  Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance.
Apply Effects - Distortion Effects - Wave with the following settings:

5.  If you haven't used a Black and White tube, go to Adjust - Hue and Saturation - Colourise with settings of 0, 0.
If your wave effect isn't well defined, go to Effects - Edge Effects - Enhance again (I didn't on my first example, but I have on my second)

6.  Select your Preset Shape tool and set it to Rectangle.
Select a contrasting colour from your tube (I selected a random colour for my first example) and set it as your background.
Draw out a thin Rectangle across your canvas, overhanging the edges slightly, as you can see in my screenshot:

When you're happy with the thickness, convert it to Raster layer.

7.  Still on your Rectangle layer, go to Image - Rotate - Free Rotate with the following settings:

8.  Again on your Rectangle layer, apply Muras Meister - Copies, this time using the Line preset with the default settings.
Change the Blend Mode to Overlay, or one that suits your tag (I've used Screen on my second example).

12.   Add your name, copyright and license number (if necessary).

Tag Tutorials / Rawr! - NO SCRAPS
« on: June 27, 2012, 06:58:09 pm »

I've used PSP9 for this tutorial, however you should be able to create this tag in all versions.
I am assuming you have some knowledge of PSP.

Supplies needed:
A tube or close up of choice.  I've used a tube by  Gennadiy Koufay, available for purchase at CDO
Please do not use the same tube without the appropriate license.
Fonts of choice.  I've used Cooper Black as my bold font and AL Sandra for my scripty font.

Plugins:
Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow
Penta.com - Jeans

1.  Open your tube.  With your selection tool, select an interesting area on your tube - it could have an interesting pattern or lots of colours.  See my screenshot below for the area I selected:

2.  Edit - Copy.  Edit - Paste - Paste As New Image.
This should create a small image with just the area you selected from your tube.
Effects - Image Effects - Seamless Tiling with the following settings:

3.  Open a new image 600 x 600 pixels.  Set your foreground to black or a dark colour from your tube.
Set your background to pattern and select the Seamless Tile you created earlier.  Now set it to Null (we'll be using this later).
Select your preset shape tool and set it to Ellipse, with the following settings:

Draw a circle on your canvas.  Objects - Align - Centre in Canvas.  Convert to Raster.

4.  Select your Magic Wand, and with your circle layer active, click inside the circle.
Selections - Modify - Expand by 2.
Add a new Raster layer.
Flood fill your new layer with your Seamless Tile.
Selections - Select None.

5.  With your flood filled layer active, Layers - Arrange - Move Down.  This should move it underneath the circle you drew.
Duplicate the flood filled layer.  On the original layer, apply Adjust - Blur - Gaussian Blur with the following settings:

6.  Still on the same layer, apply Penta.com - Jeans with the following settings:

If you like, you could duplicate this layer to make it stand out more - I didn't in my example.

7.  Select your Preset Shape tool again and set it to Rectangle.  Swap your materials, so that you have your tile as your foreground and your dark colour as your background.  This time, set your foreground to Null.  See my screenshot below for how to do this:

Draw a rectangle across the bottom of your circle.  You want it a little wider than your Jeans layer.
When happy with the size, Objects - Align - Horz. Centre in Canvas.
Convert to Raster.
If there is any of your Jeans layer hanging below your rectangle, erase this.

8.  With your Rectangle layer active, apply Eye Candy 5 Impact - Gradient Glow with the following settings:

Change the colour to suit your tag.

9.  Change your materials around again, so that your tile is your background again.
Select your text tool, and set your foreground to null.
Type out an appropriate word to suit your tag using your bold font.
Position it in the centre of your rectangle and convert to Raster.

10.  Apply the same Gradient Glow to your word that you used for your rectangle.
I used a lighter colour from my tube this time.
Apply a drop shadow with the settings 0, 0, 100, 10.

11.  Paste your tube as a new layer and move it below your Rectangle layer.
Move it into an appropriate position, resizing if necessary.
Apply a drop shadow of choice.
If any of the tube is sticking out below your rectangle, erase this.

12.  Crop your tag and resize it if necessary.

13.  Add your name in your scripty font, copyright and licence number, if necessary.
And you're done :)

Tag Tutorials / Mermaid Bubbles
« on: June 01, 2012, 07:44:54 pm »

I've used PSP9 for this tutorial, however you should be able to create this tag in all versions.
I am assuming you have some knowledge of how PSP works, including applying masks.

Supplies needed:
A tube of choice.  I'm using the mermaid out of the scrap kit I'm using, but you can see in my second example
where I've used a tube by another artist.
Please do not use the same tube/kit without the appropriate license.
Scrap kit of choice.  I'm using a PTU kit, Summer Day by Desirena Designs, which is available from TPP.
Font of choice.  I've used Jellyka Waterways Seafarers.
Mask of choice.  I've used WSL Mask62 by Wee Scots Lass

I've written this so you can twist your result to suit your tube and scrapkit choice - Hope you enjoy it.
I have resized pretty much all the elements to suit my tag - please do the same as necessary

1.  Open a new image 600x600 pixels.

2.  Copy and paste your tube as a new layer and resize to your liking.

3.  Copy and paste your water element above your tube and move it into position (if you are using a kit that doesn't have a patch of water like mine did, you can either skip this step or find something else in your kit to use)

4.  Make sure you are on your water layer and select the Raster Deform tool (I believe it's called the Pick tool in later versions of PSP).
Whilst holding down the Control key, hover over one of the lower corners.  The tool should change shape.
Still holding the Control key, click and drag the corner over towards the sides of your tag - see my screenshot below:

Basically, you are giving your tag some perspective :)

5.  Add any elements you like around your tag.  Add drop shadows as required.
I've used the Palm Tree, Bubbles, Life Preserver and Fish2 in my first example.

6.  Select a paper from your kit - I've used P9.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move it below your other elements.
Apply mask of choice to this layer and merge group.

7.  Crop your tag and resize if necessary.

8.  Add your name, using a font of choice.  Add a drop shadow.

9.  Add the appropriate copyright and license number if necessary.
And you're done :)

Here's a second example, using the artwork of Joanne Schempp, which I purchased when she was licensed through My Tag Art.  Since that company has now closed, she now sells her tubes through CDO

3.  Using your Magic Wand, click inside your rectangle.  Selections - Modify - Expand by 2.

Do not deselect.

4.  Apply Greg's Factory Output Vol. II - Pool Shadow with the following settings:

Do not deselect.

5.  Paste your tube as a new layer below your frame, but above your Pool Shadow layer.  Move into position.
Selections - Invert.  Press delete on your keyboard.  Selections - Select None.
Change your tube layer blend mode to Overlay (or one that suits your tube).

6.  Merge visible.  Duplicate this layer.
On the original layer, apply DSB Flux - Blast with the following settings:

Apply this a second time, changing the direction to Downwards.

7.  Paste your close up as a new layer.  Move it to the top of your layer palette.
Crop your tag to 600 x 250 pixels.

8.  Make sure you are on your tube layer.  Apply your mask to this layer, ensuring you have it set to 'Fit to layer'.
Merge group.

9.   Add your name, copyright and license number (if necessary).
Export your tag as a PNG.
And you’re done :)
