I created this in PSP9, but I assume it can be created in all versions.
Supplies needed:
Tube of choice:
I'm using a limited edition tube by
Jose Cano
, which I received while he was licensed through MPT. His other tubes are now available from
PTE
. Please do not use without the appropriate license.
Note regarding URL: As this tutorial was originally written in 2010, my tag and screenshots have an old URL on them - please use the new URL if using his artwork to create this set.
Font of choice:
I'm using Ephesis, a pay font
Supplies:
My Diamond Circle, my Diamond Fill, Doodle by
Graphics Funhouse
(thank you so much Saskia!)
You will find these supplies attached to this post. Please do not share without checking with me first.

Filters:
Penta Color Dot
Xero Porcelain
Alienskin Xenofex 2 Constellation
1. Open a new transparent image 600 x 250 pixels
2. Flood fill with a foreground-background gradient (angle at 45, no repeats) using two colours from your tube.
3. Copy and paste your doodle as many times as you like over your background and set it to Soft Light.
4. Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.
5. Duplicate your tube three times (total of four tube layers) and close off the top layer.
6. Move your three other tube layers to cover the whole canvas (see my example).
7. Drop the opactiy on the left tube to 80. Drop the opacity on the center tube to 60. Drop the opacity of the right tube to 40.
8. Merge these three tube layer with your background and doodle layers.
9. Apply Penta Color Dot using the following settings:
10. Make a freehand or point-to-point selection like mine in the screenshot below.
Make sure the background layer is selected and apply Alienskin Xenofex 2 Constellation with the following settings:
Deselect.
11. Unhide your tube and move it slightly to the right. Add a drop shadow of choice (I used 2,2,70,15)
12. Apply Xero Porcelain using the following settings:
(I appear to have a different version of this filter compared to other tutorial writers. If using a different version to mine, use the default settings, but change the three colour channels to 0)
13. Copy and paste the diamond circle and move it over the left background tube. If you like, you can colourise to match your tube. Add a small dropshadow (I used 2,2,40,7)
14. Add a new raster layer. Selections -> Select All. Selections -> Modifiy -> Contract by 7 pixels. Selections -> Invert. Flood fill with white. Select none.
15. On the same layer, Selections -> Select All. Selections -> Modifiy -> Contract by 5 pixels. Selections -> Invert. Flood fill with black. Select none.
16. On the same layer, Selections -> Select All. Selections -> Modifiy -> Contract by 3 pixels. Selections -> Invert. Flood fill with supplied diamond fill. Colourise to match your tube, if necessary. Select none.
17. Add a drop shadow to this layer. I've applied 2,2,40,7 and then -2,-2-,40,7.
18. Add the copyright and license number if appropriate.
19. Add your name in a font of choice. I also added a gradient glow and drop shadow.
And you're done
Here's another example created by Angie from The Zone Groups:
